*This game was designed and developed by Gemcraft Games for Washington DC based startup, Legends of Learning and appears on their educational games platform to be used by middle-school students in the US.*
Dr. Jones puts on her lab coat and teaches students about atoms and elements!
The main game consists of a matrix with atoms of various elements. First, students have to unlock those elements by creating their structure (nucleus and electron shells) and then combine adjoined atoms to create possible compounds. More complex compounds award more points. Through the game, players unlock upgrades to boost their score.
If they need to shuffle or renew the matrix, they can play the corresponding mini game. In the mini game for the shuffle, they have to calculate atomic mass, atomic number or electric charge of random atoms. The second mini game, which if it is completed correctly renews the matrix, requires students to know about the periodic table (there is one available in the game with all the necessary information).
Finally, students answer relevant questions for the opportunity to increase their score if they get the right answers. However, if their answers aren’t correct, there’s a chance to receive penalties. Therefore, it is important for students to pay attention to Dr. Jones’s lessons about atoms and elements and if they do there is the extra benefit of more points for their score!
